General Info:

I was born in 1960 and raised in upstate NY along the Catskill, Adirondack mountains and Hudson Valley region where my love of nature and the outdoors started. My childhood memories of riding tire tubes in freezing, cold water gushing from the mountaintop into Lake Tsatswassa a mile downstream or before school chopping ice from the stream to water my horse Cocoa; a beautiful Thoroughbred/Arabian mare. We would ride along the cleared mountain ridge of the power lines and on sunny, crisp, Fall days reach the plateau to “click click” and gallop as fast as we could squeezing my knees into her belly and hunching into her shoulders. On weekends we would go to camp and I would sit in a 4 by 6-foot boat alone in silence on Lake Champlain catching a basketful of Sun and Perch fish with night crawlers I picked the night before. My grinning grandfather who was proud of my haul met me at the shore and helped me clean the fish. At night we sat around a sweet smelling bonfire and sank into deep sleep under the Stars and Moon. While working at a Golf course my peers were leaving for college and I said, “Me too”! In 1984 I earned a degree in Biology with a specialty in Electron Microscopy while working midnight-8a, school 9-3p, sleep 5-10p, repeat!

In 1985 on a dark, depressing, freezing day while working at the VA hospital, Albany, NY I looked out the window and knew I was going to freeze my butt off chopping ice from the door handle while waiting for my Black Monte Carlo car with Maroon leather interior to warm up. I said to myself “Stick a fork in me” “I’m done”, so I packed up my pots and pans, the cat and drove to Miami and took a cheap apartment on Bird road. I went to the University of Miami School of Medicine personnel office and got myself a few jobs, Department of Biochemistry, 9a-5p running experiments and the Debbie School 6-10p printing Karyotypes for Chromosome evaluation. I met this blue-eyed, tall, hairy legged student and 33 years later the rest is history, Professor Michael Edward Brown, MD., PhD. My career reputation preceded me to get things done and I directed Cardiovascular Clinical Research trials for Aortic Aneurysm stent-grafts for FDA approval. Summer, 2000 my daughter called me at work and told me all the fun things they were doing with the housekeeper, I hung up the phone and said “Me too” and retired. The next 10 years I focused on raising our family and in 2010 I had the time and energy to take art classes in the community and here we are today living the softer side of life as Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Artist & Entrepreneur.

I still love nature and the outdoors and spend time in our steamy, Sub-tropical environment boating, swimming and exploring with family and friends while being inspired to create tropical artworks or gifts in Watercolor, Pastels, Acrylic or Mixed Media. I participate in local exhibits with the Miami Watercolor Society and Homestead Center for the Arts, manage several FB business art pages and sell my artworks at Islamorada’s Art on a Whim gallery/gift shop, mm87, Rain Barrel Artist Village.
