Joann Bower (AKA Methotica Arts as known on her social media platforms) is a self-taught artist born and raised in Miami, FL where she still resides. Pencil drawings and sketches were her main focus until 2013 when she began to paint at the age of 29. She fell in love with the process while attending a children’s event with her young daughter and nephews late 2013. Today her main medium is now artist grade acrylics. Joann is actively exploring other mediums such as oils and other mixed media.

Joann focuses on ethereal female face and body subjects surrounded by surreal atmospheres’. She is inspired by the inner beauty and strengths of a woman. Some artists who also influence her work are the modern surreal and photorealism work of Lena Danya, Happy D. Artist, and RelmXX. Joann’s work has been featured 3 times on the front page of the popular artist blog app of Art Amino under her platform name “Methotica Arts”. She has volunteered at a local school to participate as the instructor in a “Mommy and Me” semi-abstract course where each student was able to take home their own work of art on canvas. Joann has also volunteered her time and talent and illustrated the cover of a published children’s book written by Kindergartners’.
