General info

In 1924, several women in South Dade County decided to form a garden group. They felt the need of community identity and cooperation to discuss flowers, trees, birds, shrubs, and aide each other in fighting insects. This makes us the oldest garden club in Miami-Dade.

In 2012, a partnership agreement between the Club and Miami Dade County Fruit & Spice Park was established to strengthen our long-term working relationship. The South Dade Garden Club supports the Fruit and Spice Park with event sponsorship, improvement purchases, and trees planted in honor of family and friends and in memory of deceased members. The Club has recognized a need for financial assistance for deserving students who desire a career in horticulture and/or agriculture. Generous scholarships are awarded annually.

The South Dade Garden Club meets year-round the 2nd Thursday, at 7 pm. Meetings are held at the Fruit and Spice Park, 24801 SW 187th Ave, Homestead Everyone is welcome. Please follow us on Facebook.
